When Ellen Fiore, owner and president of Bedrock Stone Inc., of Kearny, NJ, purchased a Komatsu WA 500 loader that measured 12 ft. 8 in. in height, she knew she would be facing hauling problems.
Bedrock Stone, a recycler of concrete and rubble, offers on-site crushing and screening of demolition projects. However when transporting equipment to demolition sites, it faces overhead clearances of only 13 ft. 6 in. Because Fiore was impressed with the durability and quality of the 1964 Rogers Brothers lowboy trailer the company purchased at auction 15 years ago, she decided to approach Rogers for a solution.
Fiore consulted Steve Izzi, of C.C. and F.F. Keesler, a distributor of Rogers Brothers trailers in eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland. He recommended a Rogers Specialized trailer designed to meet the company’s specific hauling needs.
Izzi took Ellen’s husband, Andy Fiore and Sandy McIntyre, driver, to Rogers’ manufacturing site in Albion, PA, to oversee the design and manufacture of a 60-ton (54 t), drop-side trailer featuring, wheel pockets. This is Rogers newest innovation for reducing transport height.
Bedrock Stone has been using its Rogers Specialized trailer for approximately one year and report the company is able to transport its Komatsu loader anywhere without pulling pins or disassembly.
Andy added, “Not only are we totally satisfied with our Rogers trailer, but we were very impressed by Steve Izzi, a salesman, who didn’t walk away after the sale was made but worked with us through the whole design and manufacturing process.”
